Byron Bay Waterproofing Remediation

Project Details

Balcony and corridor waterproofing remediation to a residential strata complex in Byron Bay, NSW.

Project Size:200m2
Project Duration:12 Weeks

Project overview

Persistent leaks were causing damage to ground floor areas and Level 1 units as a result of failed cavity flashing and deteriorated waterproofing membranes. CRS was engaged to carry out a full strip-out and reinstatement of the waterproofing system across 200m2 of balcony and common area surfaces.

The client was so satisfied with the completed works that they have since engaged CRS to carry out Stage 2 and Stage 3 works.

Project scope

CRS completed a full waterproofing remediation including removal of all existing tiles, screed bed, sliding doors, aluminium balustrades, steel columns and the lower three courses of cavity brickwork. New floor wastes were created to engineers’ directions and connected into the existing stormwater system.

The new waterproofing system included two coats of Ardex WPM300 broadcast with sand, a fibre reinforced engineered screed bed installed via ScreedPro pump truck, and Ardex WPM1000 sheet membrane with full detailing around column and handrail fixings. The membrane was terminated into the cavity using pressure seal angles and reglets cut into walls.

ELD testing was completed as part of quality control measures prior to tiling. New tiles, aluminium balustrades, steel posts and aluminium framed sliding doors were then installed, walls and roof soffits painted, and all services disconnected and reconnected.

Ardex WPM1000 is backed by a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty. CRS are accredited installers by Ardex.
